FINANCIAL REPORT

INTRODUCTION

In summer shut down the external windows have been repaired and redecorated, and the main Temple has been refurbished, at a cost of around £13,300 incl VAT. The donations to the Building Fund amount to £16,864 which includes £7,805 from individuals, and £2,700 proceeds from the February Dinner - Dance.

Since the summer shut down 200 new chairs have been delivered and installed in the Dining Rooms and Temples. Six Brethren have pledged to donate a total of £6,000 which covers most of the cost of the chairs.

Plan for 2007 is to redecorate and refurbish the Bar and Lounge, and to install a new air ventilation system in the Main Temple. It is hoped that the Building Fund will continue to be supported with donations, e.g. with the proceeds of at least one raffle from each Lodge/Chapter during the year.

FINANCE REPORT

Numbers attending Lodge and Chapter meetings, and dining, has declined by - 3.5% in period January – September 2006 compared with comparable period in 2005.

Other Masonic Orders

One of the options that is being considered to increase income of WLMC is to encourage the formation of Lodges/Chapters of Other Orders to use the Centre.

At the present time there are 2 Mark, and 1 Royal Ark Mariner Lodges, and 1 KT Preceptory meeting at WLMC.

An Order of the Secret Monitor Conclave is in the process of being founded that will meet at WLMC.

There are no units of the following at the Centre at the present time:

Royal and Select Masters - Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees - Red Cross of Constantine - Holy Royal Arch Templar Priests - Royal Order of Scotland - The Operatives

We are endeavouring to identify Brethren who are members of these orders. It would be appreciated if you could check whether any members of your Lodge or Chapter are members of any of these orders, and to ask them to contact me.

W.L.M.C. IMPROVEMENT FUND

WLMC has completed a number of building projects this year.

They comprise:

To replace windows and redecorate outside of building

To refurbish the upstairs toilet

To refurbish the Tyler’s annex to No 1 Temple

To redecorate the downstairs main dining room and lounge, and to purchase new chairs for the dining rooms and lounge

It is our wish not increase borrowings from the Bank, which will increase expenditure, and in turn probably require an increase in UNIT charge rents. Various ways of raising funds are being explored.

We therefore wish to sew the seed of Lodges and Chapters creating a WLMC Improvement Fund, and making donations from it to the Centre. This was proposed by Fulham Lodge who have already started such a Fund, and Royal Dental Hospital Lodge have kindly offered to provide a number of “Masonic” pictures for hanging in the main dining room to brighten it up, and also to purchase new lighting for the dining room.

If every member of every Lodge and Chapter meeting at WLMC was to donate £10, it would raise a sum of more than £19,000 towards the costs of these projects.

The 500 club is being started by W.Bro Ian Hockney.

Another option is that a Lodge, Chapter, or individual members could purchase a chair, and the name of the donor could be displayed on the chair. Estimated cost of a chair is £30.

Estimated costs for the projects are currently being quantified by the Building Committee, and some information is hoped to be available for the Half yearly Representatives’ meeting on 30th April.

Brethren, this is YOUR CENTRE: help us to make it a pleasant and enjoyable place in which to meet!

Unable to obtain an Organist at the last minute?

Hanwell Lodge of Instruction has kindly donated a portable CD and tape player available for all Lodges and Chapters to use if they find themselves without an Organist for the meeting.  The player is supplied with a CD containing all the music that you would require on the night and a laminated sheet listing the music.

Included are:  processions in and out, opening and closing odes, SMIB, perambulations for all ceremonies, background music and the National Anthem.

Contact Nick Woods for details.
